Introducing let there be hair

Let there be hair is a first of its kind vegan ingestible.

What makes our hair growth supplement different?

When we formulated this supplement, we did so with three key areas in mind:

  • Inclusivity - ensure it supports all diets (Vegan, Vegetarian, Pescatarian etc).
  • Simplicity – ease of use and accessibility.
  • Efficacy – use ingredients with strong scientific evidence to support it.

We also wanted to target the common causes of hair loss, particularly in those with busy, modern lifestyles. In many healthy people, hair loss can be attributed to excess stress, low levels of hair critical nutrients in the diet, or the influence of androgen hormones.

Why you need let there be hair in your diet

Our supplements actively work to address hair loss and stress induced hair challenges by:

  • Reducing stress levels by fighting the effects of cortisol whilst protecting against stress induced hair challenges.
  • Replenishing vitamins and minerals by rebalancing deficiencies in key nutrients associated with hair
  • Protecting the hair follicles against hormones, ageing and genetic hair cycle changes.

Let there be hair targets the critical root causes of hair loss and supports healthy, youthful hair from the inside out.

Our ingredients and their benefits

Ashwagandha: Withania somnifera Dunal (ashwagandha, WS) is an adaptogen widely used in Ayurvedic medicine, the traditional medical system of India. It’s known to decrease stress-induced changes in the body and has been shown to reduce cortisol (the body’s stress hormone). On top of triggering the stress response throughout our body, cortisol has a strong effect on our hair and our hair cycle as it prevents hair follicle stem cells from regenerating new hair. We use a concentrated extract of the roots of ashwagandha to deliver adaptogenic effects.

Zinc: Zinc is a critical micronutrient for life, but is one of the most common nutrient deficiencies found in men and women, particularly vegetarians and vegans. As many of us are taking steps to reduce our meat intake, we may be encountering low zinc levels without realising.  Zinc can also be depleted when we are stressed, adding to the impact of cortisol on the follicles.   One of the most common manifestations of low zinc is hair loss and/or hair changes.  Let there be hair adds zinc back into the diet in an easily digestible form to help counteract the effects of low zinc.

Vegan Vitamin D3: Vitamin D deficiency is becoming more common in men and women. Vitamin D3 is commonly known as a  powerful hormone that impacts mineral metabolism, but vitamin D is also critical for hair follicle function and hair cycle health. Hair loss is commonly associated with vitamin D deficiency.  Vitamin D comes in a number of forms, D2 is typically found in plants while D3 usually comes form meat.  As D3 is more bioavailable than D2, vegans and vegetarians often don’t get enough vitamin D from dietary sources and may be deficient, particularly if there is not enough exposure to direct sunlight (which helps make Vitamin D in the skin).   Let there be hair uses a special vegan version of Vitamin D3 – helping to boost the dietary intake of this critical nutrient for all types of diets.

Vitamin B6: B6 is important for replenishing neurotransmitters that can be depleted because of stress and anxiety. B6 supplementation has been shown to have a positive impact on individuals under high stress levels.

Biotin: Vitamin B7 is important for energy generation in the hair follicle. Biotin deficiency is linked to hair loss, skin rashes and brittle nails. Biotin supplementation has been shown to improve alopecia in those with biotin deficiency.

Saw Palmetto: A botanical extract from the berries of the Serenoa repens dwarf tree. Saw palmetto fights androgen induced hair loss and androgen sensitivity in men and women by preventing the creation of DHT.  DHT binds to the hair follicles in genetically susceptible people, and can lead to hair cycle dysfunction and hair loss.   By preventing the formation of DHT, the impact of this process can be minimised.
